Avalon Jazz Band To Make Their Astoria Debut

The Central Astoria Local Development Coalition invites one and all to enjoy the Parisian and Golden Age swing spirit for free on July 21st at 7:30pm as the Avalon Jazz Band perform in Astoria Park to continue the 2016 Waterfront Concert Series.

The Avalon Jazz Band has been the ambassador of vocal French Swing, performing in places like Lincoln Center, The Iridium, and around the world internationally. Their musical style is inspired by the type of jazz played in Paris in the 1930s and 40s, especially by the Hot Club de France, the style becoming what we now know as Gypsy jazz or Jazz Manouche.

The concert will take place on Astoria Park’s Great Lawn on Shore Boulevard between the Hell Gate Bridge and Astoria Pool, so come out and join the city for a fun time.

The 2016 Waterfront Series continues on Thursday evenings throughout July and August featuring these bands:

7/28 ~ The Mary Lamont Band

8/4 ~ Motor City Revue

8/11 ~ Women of Pop & Rock

8/18 ~ Bon Journey

The Central Astoria Local Development Coalition’s 2016 Astoria Park Waterfront Concert Series is made possible through funding provided by: NYC Council Members Costa Constantinides and Jimmy Van Bramer; supported, in part, by public funds from the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs in partnership with city council.
